Youth Services

Childrens books Come experience the relaxed atmosphere of the Children's Department at the Clear Lake Public Library.  Parents and kids can browse through the collection of board books, picture books, puppets, audio books on CD, books for kids just learning to read and fiction and non-fiction for elementary school age children to check out.  The book collection includes many award-winning titles by favorite authors and many titles on the Clear Lake School District's Accelerated Reader lists.  LeapFrog books and cartridges, as well as LeapPad units are available for check out to support early reading skills.  There's also kids' music on CD for check out.  Ask our friendly staff to help you find just what you're looking for.

While at the library, kids can put together a puzzle or two, play a board game, and travel to imaginary places in a boat just their size.

Youth Services

Regularly scheduled programs include story times for infants to age 5 on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.  The library's after  school programs are for grades 1st through 3rd on Tuesday and Thursday and for grades 4th and 5th on Monday.  The after school programs require pre-registration in the fall.  Four times a year there is a "Family Night" at the library, they include:  Dr. Seuss' Birthday; Earth Day Celebration; Pumpkin Party; and Winter Wonderland.

On the main floor is the Young Adult (YA) area, designed especially for middle schoolYouth Services 2 and high school students.  It houses books and magazines of interest to young adults.  YA non-fiction is inter-shelved with the adult non-fiction.  The library's computer resources and audio-visual collection are also available for young adults.  HOOPLA! is the library's program for middle school students, with special events at various times throughout the school year.
