The Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) consists of five members, each to be appointed by the Mayor, with Council approval, for a term of five years. The ZBA hears and decides appeals and reviews any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Zoning Administrative Officer and the enforcement of the City Zoning Code.
Appeals to the Board may be taken by any person or by any officer, department, board, or bureau of the City affected by any decision of the Zoning Administrative Officer. Such appeal shall be taken within 10 days by filing with the Zoning Administrative Officer and ZBA. If the above information is submitted by noon Friday or before, your appeal will be published in the Clear Lake Mirror Reporter the following Wednesday and the Board of Adjustment will meet Tuesday following the publication of the appeal at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 15 N. 6th Street, Clear Lake, Iowa. Applications for variances or conditional use permits can be obtained from the Building Department at 1419 2nd Ave. S., Clear Lake, Iowa, 357-6135. Applications must be filed on or before the 10th of each month to be heard at the following month's Board meeting.
