City Clerk

The Clerk's office has custody of and keeps most public records, documents, ordinances, resolutions, orders of City Council, and such other papers and documents which may be filed in the office or delivered into the custody of the City Clerk. This office keeps minutes of the City Council meetings and assembles/distributes all City Council packets. The City Clerk affixes the City Seal when necessary.

View the Licensed Contractors List to verify whether a contractor is licensed in the City of Clear Lake. Also under that site you will find all the City licenses and permits. You have the option of printing and filling in the application at home or coming to City Hall and filling out the appropriate application. The fee is listed on the form.

In March 2007, the City Council approved the appointment of Jennifer Larsen to the position of City Clerk.  Jennifer began her career with the City of Clear Lake in 2002 as the Office Clerk.  During this time, she was also appointed as the Deputy City Clerk for the City of Clear Lake. 

The City Clerk is charged with responsibility of maintaining records of council actions, permanent records of all city transactions and documents, coordinates the issuance of all licenses & permits, serves as editor of the City’s newsletter, maintains the City’s web site, and coordinates municipal elections.  

Jennifer is active professionally through the Iowa League of Cities and, locally, is involved with the the North Iowa City Clerk's Association, Clear Lake Rotary Club (currently serving as President), Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce’s First Mates and is the chairperson of the Clear Lake Harvest Festival Committee.  She is a native of Eagle Grove and lives in Clear Lake with her husband Mike and their daughter Bailey.
