City accepting RFP's for City-owned property at 100 S 15th Street

The City of Clear Lake is accepting RFP’s until 2 p.m., central time, on May 30, 2018, for the purchase and redevelopment of City-owned property known locally as 100 S. 15th Street. The purpose of this RFP is to establish an agreement or agreements with a qualified Offeror(s) to purchase and re-develop City-owned parcels of land known locally as 100 S. 15th Street.
 

The City of Clear Lake is accepting RFP’s until 2 p.m., central time, on May 30, 2018, for the purchase and redevelopment of City-owned property known locally as 100 S. 15th Street.  The purpose of this RFP is to establish an agreement or agreements with a qualified Offeror(s) to purchase and re-develop City-owned parcels of land known locally as 100 S. 15th Street.

buildingThe RFP contains a description of the property, description of the goals for the project, criteria set by the City of Clear Lake for the ranking of proposals, and additional information about the site.

The subject property contains three (3) 50’ wide lots and one (1) 40’ wide lot all 120’ deep and is located on S. 15th Street, between Main Avenue and 2nd Avenue S.  The property is legally described as the S 40’ L5 & ALL L’S 6-7-8 BLK 2 CRANES 1ST ADDITION.

Development of this property shall accomplish the following city goals:

Ensure Design Quality and Compatibility - The site occupies a visible location in the core of Clear Lake. Appropriate design techniques and materials should be employed to ensure that the development produces a high-quality, attractive building that further enhances the appearance of the area.

Enhance the Tax Base - Enhancing the tax base of the City of Clear Lake will help grow and sustain a more vibrant commercial district in the core of the community.

Address a specific lack of housing opportunities in the Community – Projects that bring a new or enhanced housing types or models to the city are encouraged. 

While the amount paid by the developer to the city for the purchase of the property may be considered, it will not be the deciding factor. The city views this project as a long-term investment in our community, not as a real estate transaction designed to generate the highest immediate sale price possible.
