Council Adopts 2017 Fiscal Year Budget

On March 7th, following months of workshops and meetings, the City Council adopted the 2018 (including 2017 (amended) fiscal year budget proposal.  The budget was prepared in accordance with the City's adopted financial policies and is consistent with the City's "2017/18 Strategic Planning & Goal Setting Report".  The City will be able to continue to provide high levels of community services and maintain necessary reserve funds.

A Great deal has been accomplished by the Community over the past decade (City Beach enhancements; Lake restoration; swimming pool; Arts Center; street improvements; Central Gardens; downtown development; industrial park; fire station; east water tower; etc.) and the proposed FY 18 budget will continue to move the City forward.  Because of these efforts, Clear Lake has earned a reputation as one of the more desirable communities in the North Iowa/Southern Minnesota region in which to live, recreate, and do business.

"While many communities across Iowa are struggling to maintain essential services, Clear Lake has been able to enhance existing services and create new opportunities.  This is the direct result of the direct prudent financial discipline of the Mayor and City Council", stated City Administrator Scott Flory.

Although the economy continues to present challenges for cities, school districts, community colleges, and other forms of local governments, the strategies and preventive measures implemented by the City Council have mitigated the impact to the City government.
